The OSBI keeps a statewide database of fingerprint-based arrest and conviction records for serious misdemeanors and felonies. The CHIRP portal is the fastest way to run a search. You can add a Sex Offender Registry check for $2.00 and a Violent Offender Registry check for $2.00. There is a $1.00 online fee per transaction.

CHIRP only covers Oklahoma records. Arrests where fingerprints were not taken will not show up. Results stay in your account but expire after 60 days. For questions, contact the OSBI at (405) 848-6724 or email CHIRP@osbi.ok.gov. Their office is at 6600 North Harvey Place in Oklahoma City. Clearing Criminal History in Cimarron County

Oklahoma law allows some criminal records to be sealed through expungement. Under Title 22 O.S. Section 18, a full expungement seals both the court record and the OSBI arrest record. This applies to acquittals, reversed convictions, cases where no charges were filed, pardoned offenses, and certain misdemeanor and non-violent felony convictions after waiting periods. Section 991c covers deferred sentences. After successful probation, the plea gets expunged, but the OSBI arrest record stays on file.

Violent felony convictions cannot be expunged under Title 57 O.S. Section 571. Filing fees for expungement petitions run $100 to $300 in most counties. The OSBI charges a $150 processing fee after the court grants the order. The process takes several months to over a year depending on court schedules and whether any parties object.

For free legal help with expungement, contact Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma at (888) 534-5243 or visit oklaw.org. They handle expungement cases for people who qualify based on income. The Oklahoma Bar Association also runs a lawyer referral service.

Cimarron County was created in 1907 from Beaver County. It sits in the Oklahoma Panhandle and shares borders with Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas. The county seat is Boise City. Because of the small population, the court and sheriff's offices handle a lower volume of cases than most Oklahoma counties. Still, all the same state and federal record systems apply here.
